Step Up for Students
Get up to $7,000 a year per child for private school.
For the 2020-21 school year, a family of four could have an income of nearly $80,000 annually to be eligible for our private school scholarships worth as much as $7,000 per child, depending on where students lived and their grade level. With the April 26, 2021 passage of new legislation related to our scholarships, we anticipate the income level for the 2021-22 school year will rise to a household income eligibility criteria of nearly $100,000 for a family of four.
Any parent of a public school student with a disability who has an Individual Education Plan (IEP) or a 504 accommodation plan may receive a McKay Scholarship
Florida's school choice programs allow parents to choose the best educational setting—public or private—for their child. The McKay Scholarship Program for Students with Disabilities provided over 30,000 Florida students with special needs the opportunity to attend a participating private school during the 2019-20 school year. The McKay Scholarship Program also offers parents public school choice. A parent of an eligible special needs student may choose to transfer the student to another public school.
